Heavy Heart

Yesterday, Jordan and I made the very tough choice to take Chauncey back to the Humane Society. We came to this decision after much consideration and thinking about the future. I could just cry thinking about it, but we realized that although our lives are relaxed right now, Jordan will be back on the road in about four months and with the long hours I sometimes have to work, training her properly and giving her the attention she deserves would not be possible. I have a hard enough time walking Wallace when Jordan is gone, two dogs would have been a lot harder. There were a bevy of reasons for our decision (including landlords, schedules, our life's unpredictability) and in the end we feel we rushed into the decision to get another puppy.

We both felt extreme guilt in having to do this and I was a wreck most of yesterday, but for her sake, we know it was the right choice. If we thought that there was a possibility that she would not be re-adopted or even worse, euthanized, we would have never done it, but I know she will be snatched up by a wonderful home where she will be the right fit. She nearly got adopted while we were there taking her back. Wallace was looking all over for her yesterday, but has adjusted more today. We learned a valuable lesson in these last couple of weeks and are happy being a family of three for a while.

Memorial Day

“True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost.” -Arthur Ashe

We Adopted a Puppy!!!

Today we welcomed a new addition into our home -- She has no name yet!! We are debating between Chauncey (Barring tonights Nuggets Game) and Ruby - Please feel free to weigh in!!
We have wanted another pup for a while now and have recently been stalking the Yavapai Humane Society website. Lo and behold, Jordan was looking yesterday and a litter of puppies were surrendered to the shelter because the owner could not afford to keep them.
They says she's a shepherd/terrier/corgi - To me, she plain cute!!! She has more wiry hair and is very petite. Wallace has been in a tizzy all day, shaking and slobbering with excitement. She has snipped at him a couple times. I think we have a new Alpha dog!

We feel silly.

One week ago today Jordan and I thought it would be a great idea to go lay by the pool...We had one friend join us and then another one came and then about an hour after that my friend Kristin joined us. WE GOT FRIED. This week we have been recovering from a nasty, terrible sunburn. Yes, we know the consequences of skins over-exposure to the sun, and that's why we feel silly, we knew better. Anyway, things are looking much better now, after a week.

On the Wallace front - Jordan bought Wallace a new bed yesterday and he is refusing to lay on it. He is such a diva .

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend, and this is Becca Duvall reminding you to reapply your sunscreen!

Happy Mother's Day!

The older I get the more and more I appreciate all that my mom has been in my life. Life can be tough sometimes and as Jordan and I are thrown even the minute obstacles, our moms are always there to lend a supportive ear and an encouraging word. For whatever reason I have been missing home and mom a lot lately, so know that I think you are wonderful and I love you!

Weekend

We kicked off our weekend by dropping off our friend, Ryan at the airport Saturday morning in Phoenix and then after that made our first trip to Trader Joe's! As proven by the picture, we found a few wonderful goodies and will surely be back. This particular Trader Joe's was pretty busy and so i didn't browse like i would have loved to, but it's probably for the best!
On Sunday I went with my work girls on a shopping trip to the mall and then downtown Prescott...I found a few cute things including these super fun flats! Hope you all had a great weekend too!!
